The company I work for built a new office building.  In that office building is a fitness center with the coolest new equipment. That office building is only two buildings away from the one I work in.  It opens to the tenants at 6AM, but I get to go in as early as I want.  Once of my duties to pay for the privilege of getting to work out when I want is that I have to fold towels and make sure there are no lights out, plenty of wet-wipes and toilet paper and just check things over.  Beginning yesterday, I have had the place all to myself for over an hour and it has been heaven!!!

These treadmills and bikes have a virtual video on them with several settings.  This morning, I walked through Yosemite National Park and biked through New England in the fall.  I got so into the walk through Yosemite, that I found myself “dodging” a tree that came a little close to the path and when the video stopped by a waterfall and got in pretty close, I almost reached out my hand to feel the water.  This is going to make working out far less painful for me because my biggest issue is not the exercise itself, but the boredom of it.  There are so many virtual places to go that I can chose a different one each day for over a week.  And, as I add to my time on each machine, I can go deeper into the virtual world and see more.

Also, there are several weight machines, and I started concentrating on my upper body on them.  I will add more as I go on, but it has been a while since I worked out and there is no reason to kill myself, especially since I have to put in a full day of work afterwards, and some nights teach a class.

The hardest part of this is going to be the mornings after teaching.  Last night, was the beginning sock knitting class and by the time I got home and into bed, I barely got 6 hours of sleep.  I get to go to bed at my normal time tonight, but I have the feeling I’ll have more than one cup of hot tea with my breakfast this morning.

The fitness center is the brain child of the owner’s son, who now works here, and I think it was a smart move.  I am amazed at how many people have signed up to use the fitness center.  That place is going to be hopping.  I hope I put out enough towels.  🙂

So, while 4 AM may seem to be rather early to get out of bed, I am happy to do so because I really do want to lose this 40 extra pounds I am carrying.  Eating right is only half of it.  I gotta get to movin’ as well.
